Pros:The location wasn't bad but it's not ideal.
Cons:Some people should not be in the hospitality business. The owners of this property are one of those people. One of the people I was traveling with had a misunderstanding with them over their ridiculous photo policies and when I went to discuss it with them so I could better understand their "rules" they not only were very rude to me about it but they also made it very personal by insulting my culture and accusing me of being a certain way "because I am an American". I've never in my life had hosts treat me so badly before and make me feel so unwelcome and uncomfortable in their home. It was 100% rude and uncalled for, especially after how nice I was to them and was so excited to stay in their property. They DO NOT LIKE cameras or photos. If you have a professional grade camera, whether you are a professional photographer or not, they will not let you take photos of anyone at the property. They want "4,000 euros" for taking photos on their property. It's the absolute most ridiculous thing I have ever heard of. I wouldn't even pay that to take photos at Buckingham Palace. I am not a professional photographer, I am a real estate agent with a $3,000 camera that I use as a hobby. One of the reasons I spent the extra money to stay at this place was because of how photogenic it looked in the photos and it inspired me. All I wanted for my birthday was to stay at a beautiful place that would inspire my photography since I spend so much time working that is my escape. . . well, that was quickly shot down when after they gave my friend permission for us to take photos of his daughter there, they changed their mind (the woman living there flipped out when she saw his beautiful daughter in her gorgeous couture medieval dress she made). They accused us all of being professional photographers and lying to them about our intentions (and said it was because we're Americans that's why we lied). It was the strangest and most hurtful thing. I was in tears on my birthday. I felt so unwelcomed in their home. These people should not be running a B&B. They should not be in the hospitality business at all. They are too emotionally involved to run this like a business. The hosts live right there in the house and they are so strict about all of their expectations and rules that you feel like you are staying in a museum and not a B&B. If you don't like a host breathing down your neck this is not the right place to stay. We had a friend traveling with us in Sintra who was staying at another property in town and we were all riding together to Obidos for the night, they expected us to track them down and get permission before letting her come into the property for 5 minutes to wait for us while we change our clothes. They are absolutely ridiculous with their rules and restrictions, worse than if you're a pre-teen living with your parents. I booked this property for my birthday and flew 3400 miles to stay there. Biggest mistake of my life. They completely ruined my birthday
