Pros:Breakfast was prepackaged muffins. Obviously covid has altered the way you can have breakfast. It was practicly non existent. The pool was a nice amenity. The remodel was very nice.
Cons:The hotel was not clean upon arrival and stayed not clean during our stay. The hallway had the same trash in it the entire week. Our room was not cleaned during my 5 day stay. The staff was friendly but cleanliness was lacking. Not having a fridge was annoying. The view from room was very good. Location was good. Some of the people staying there were not your average run of the mill folks.

Pros:Location and dock
Cons:We usually stay here for Billy Bowlegs Fest because it’s the cheapest place with a dock. We have 10 rooms booked on average and have been staying here for years. In the last couple years this place has switched owners. It used to be Quality Inn bayside and since the switch it has been going downhill. This year for bowlegs I vowed never to stay here again but my husband and I needed to get away and wanted to take the boat so we looked up prices and u couldn’t beat it considering the dock. Well we checked in on Friday and had our boat trailer parked beside the hotel in the trailer parking section. Late Saturday evening when we had boated back in from Destin, we were greeted by a short thin man of orient that claimed to work at the Roya. He asked if the trailer was ours to which we said yes. Then he goes on how someone had parked theirs there before and they had to have it towed because if they were not guests. To which I responded, yes we are guests here and I had already spoken to the front desk about parking my trailer so it shouldn’t have even been questioned. I was livid by the end of our talk because I remember him standing outside the front of the hotel watching me park the trailer the day we arrived. He should have known then or at least asked them if we were guests. He shouldn’t low-key threaten to have our boat trailer towed.

Pros:Overall the hotel was nice. People you get what you pay for. At the price of this hotel it was what I expected. A nice room that was clean. The view was of the Sound Side of Ft. Walton Beach which is not the white beaches you see in the brochure. The room was half the rate of the ones on the actual white beach. Not a bad place for the price.
